SWIR Cameras
Featuring a State of the Art high sensitivity InGaAs FPA sensor, developed by Alcatel-Thales III-V lab, the OWL SW1.7 offers pixels resolution of 320 x 256, with pixel pitch of 30µm x 30µm.

The OWL SW1.7 series offers high sensitivity response in the range 0.9 to 1.7µm, allowing exposure time from 500ns to 500ms, to give optimum image quality in all conditions.

Raytrix bietet für dieses Problem die passende Lösung, indem nicht nur ein zweidimensionales Abbild der Szene - wie bei konventionellen Kameras üblich - aufgenommen wird, sondern zusätzlich zu der Ortsinformation auch noch die entsprechende Richtungsinformation einer realen Szene auf dem Bildsensor gespeichert wird. Hierdurch kann die Auflösung heutiger Digitalkameras wesentlich besser ausgenutzt werden, indem Bilder aus verschiedenen Ansichten gleichzeitig mit nur einer Aufnahme gespeichert werden. Diese sogenannte 4D Lichtfeld-Technik nutzt die enorme Speicherkapazität moderner Bildsensoren in einer neuartigen Weise, um Bildaufnahmen auch im Nachhinein noch bearbeiten und modifizieren zu können.

The resolution of state-of-the-art camera is increasing more and more with each year. Today you can already buy cameras with resolutions of 10 to 60 megapixels and even more. But what about the quality of these image-sensors? And how can we take advantage of those high resolutions? Raytrix offers you the solution to really make use of these high-capacity resources, which already exist. Standard cameras only record a flat 2D projection of the 3D scene from only one fixed point of view. In contrast to that the raytrix cameras make use of digital cameras with high resolution to record the complete 4D lightfield of a 3D scene. The lightfield consists of all lightray intensities passing through our 3D space and not only one flat 2D image-projection. By recording this lightfield with only a single shot, raytrix cameras store more information of the 3D scene compareable by taking many shots at the same time but from different point of views.

Light fields and computational photography @ Stanford

Overview

The light field, first described in Arun Gershun's classic 1936 paper of the same name, is defined as radiance as a function of position and direction in regions of space free of occluders. In free space, the light field is a 4D function - scalar or vector depending on the exact definition employed. Light fields were introduced into computer graphics in 1996 by Marc Levoy and Pat Hanrahan. Their proposed application was image-based-rendering - computing new views of a scene from pre-existing views without the need for scene geometry. (A workshop on image-based modeling and rendering was held at Stanford in 1998.)

Since 1996, research on light fields has followed a number of lines. On the theoretical side, researchers have developed spatial and frequency domain analyses of light field sampling and have proposed several new parameterizations of the light field, including surface light fields and unstructured Lumigraphs. On the practical side, researchers have experimented with literally dozens of ways to capture light fields, ranging from camera arrays to kaleidoscopes, as well as several ways to display them, such as an array of video projectors aimed at a lenticular sheet. Researchers have also explored the relationship between light fields and other sampled representations of light transport, such as incident light fields and reflectance fields. At Stanford, we have focused on the boundary between light fields, photography, and high-performance imaging, an area we sometimes call computational photography. (A workshop on this theme was held at MIT in May of 2005.) However, computational photography has grown to become broader than light fields, and our research also touches on other aspects of light fields, such as interactive animation of light fields and computing shape from light fields.
